From the earlier topic, you can understand as a business analyst we help the organization in multiple ways such as
- We integrate different stakeholder needs and constraints in a best possible way and give shape to the project
- We help the stakeholders to visualize the project even before the construction of the project
- We enable the stakeholders from a world of uncertainty and vagueness to the world of virtual reality, where the stakeholders are able to comprehend what the whole project is about and we define the scope of the project
- We give a roadmap to the project team so that the project can be executed efficiently and effectively in terms of cost, time and quality.
Let us take an example to understand the above better.
I have a piece of land in Chennai measuring 2400 square feet and I would like to construct a house. So I call an architect to help me to come out with a design. The next day, I and the architect visits my home and meet all the stakeholders (my entire family) and we all downloaded all of our wishes and dreams about our future home to him. The architect patiently listened to all the dreams and needs and took a note of everything we told him and after two days he comes out with a drawing. He simply surprised all of us. Whatever was expressed to him, he presented in an elegant manner, literally we were able to see my future house. Here the architect played the role as a business analyst.
Of course, we had few more things to be taken care and in the subsequent iterations everything was incorporated and the architect role is over. Now I have a fully designed house in my hand. I hired a civil contractor and handed over the drawing and asked him to construct the house and in the next six months the contractor constructed the house as laid down in the architect drawing. Here the contractor played the role of a project manager.
