Position Overview
We are looking for a Purchasing Officer to buy products that are must and essential for our company’s everyday operations. You are required to review prices and quality and ensure required stock levels. We are looking for a detail-oriented and organized procurement officer to oversee purchases and create new contracts. In this position, you will play a vital role in procuring high-quality and cost-efficient supplies for our organization.

Purchasing Officer should evaluate vendors, negotiate contracts and prepare reports. For this role, you are required to have very good knowledge of market research, along with excellent analytical skills to make sure you’re identifying the most profitable offers.

You are needed to create and maintain good relationships with important suppliers to ensure products are high quality and delivered on time. The top Procurement Officer should be able to negotiate well and should make sure that all purchases comply with company standards.

Academic Qualification

  • High school diploma/GED.
  • Any Degree in accounting, business management or a similar field.

Professional Experience

  • Minimum 2 years of experience as a Procurement Officer or in a similar position.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Supervising employees and maintaining all activities of the purchasing department.
  • Preparing plans for the purchase of all things such as equipment, services, and supplies.
  • Strictly following and enforcing the company's procurement policies and procedures.
  • Purchasable products and services should be reviewed, compared and analysed.
  • Managing inventories and maintaining the accurate pricing records of all purchases.
  • Maintaining and updating supplier information such as qualifications, delivery times, product ranges, and others.
  • Maintaining good relations with suppliers and negotiating contracts.
  • Detailly researching and evaluating prospective suppliers.
  • Preparing budgets, cost analyses, and various reports.
  • Ensure that the products and supplies are of high quality to ensure the standards.
  • Work with team members and procurement manager to complete duties as needed by the organisation

Competencies

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and hands-on experience with purchasing software (e.g. Procurify or SpendMap)
  • Understanding of supply chain procedures
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to create financial reports and conduct cost analyses
  • Hands-on experience with purchasing software (e.g. Procurify or SpendMap)

  • Strong communication skills.

The Procurement Officer is answerable to the Chief Procurement Officer. 

Salary ranges depending on the experience. Typically, the average salary for a Procurement Official is around ₹3 lakh.
