The capital and largest city of the Western Australia state, Perth stands fourth in thelist of Australia’s most populated

 cities. It was founded in 1829 by Sir James Stirling, a British naval officer and colonial administrator. Perth came seventh in the Economist Intelligence Unit's August 2016 list of the world's most liveable cities and has hosted the 1962 Commonwealth Games. Curtin University, established in 1966 as Western Australian Institute of Technology and later as Curtin University of Technology is named after John Curtin, who served as Australia’s Prime Minister from 1941 to 1945. It is Australia’s first university of technology and is a member of Australian Technology Network (ATN). The university conducts research in various fields including Resources and Energy, Information and Communication, Public Health, Communities and Changing Environments, Growth and Prosperity and Creative Writing. Curtin was granted university status in 1986 and since then established overseas campuses in Singapore, Malaysia, Dubai and Mauritius. It has ties with 90 exchange universities in 20 countries. The University comprises five main faculties with over 95 specialist centres.
