Founded in 1905 as Straits Settlements and Federated Malay States Government Medical School, National University of Singapore (NUS) is the oldest higher education higher education institute in Singapore. In 1969, the School of Engineering in the Singapore Polytechnic was constituted as the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Singapore. NUS Engineering, within the National University of Singapore, was reconstituted in August 1980 with the merger between the University of Singapore and Nanyang University.
