A city in the North Island of New Zealand, Hamilton is the country fourth most populous city. It is situated on the banks of the Waikato river and is a part of the Hamilton Urban Area which includes the cities of Ngaruawahia, Te Awamutu and Cambridge. The city has a diverse economy and is the third fastest growing urban area in New Zealand, behind Pukekohe and Auckland. The Waikato Institute of Technology (known as Wintec) is an institute of technology based in New Zealand’s Waikato region. Founded in 1924 as Hamilton Technical College, it underwent a few name changes and got the present one in 2001. It offers over 130 degrees, diplomas and certificate courses. The institution has around 15000 students from across 50 countries attending both full and part time courses. It offers courses through its 13 faculties or departments functioning out of three main campuses in Hamilton and three additional campuses in the Waikato region. The Graduate Diploma in Supply Chain Logistics offered by Wintec is a one year programme in full time mode. Part time study option is also available for this programme. Core studies include learning how to identify important phases of supply chain and logistical management from internal and external perspectives; evaluating and critiquing existing operations; identifying supply chain and logistical issues, and creating effective and sustainable management solutions. Other relevant topics include project management, operations management and e-commerce in relation to supply chain logistics.
