Air traffic controllers monitor the real time location of aircraft in their designated airspace by radar and communicate with the pilots with the help of radio. To prevent from collisions. ATC enforces traffic separation rules, which ensure each aircraft maintains a minimum amount of empty space around it the least bit times. In many countries, ATC provides services to any or all private, military, and commercial aircraft operating within its airspace. reckoning on the kind of flight and therefore the class of airspace, ATC may issue instructions that pilots are required to obey, or advisories (known as flight information in some countries) that pilots may, at their discretion, disregard. The pilot in command is that the final authority for the safe operation of the aircraft and should, in an emergency, deviate from ATC instructions to the extent required to keep up safe operation of their aircraft.


Challenges faced in this industry are
  1. Communication
Communication is one of the major element in air traffic control. Every word which is conveyed is very important and should be listened carefully without any interruption. The communication must be two ways. Pilot should be aware of the surroundings and should inform same to the control station for better decision making. If some problem occurs immediate action should be taken wisely without hesitation with proper guidance.
  1. Weather
Weather is a very important element which influences air traffic control. This is considered as the biggest issue for air traffic control and it is not controllable. Bad weather makes job very tough for controlling air traffic.
  1. Frequency congestion
It may get confusing and problematic if the frequency is getting disturbed, interfered or congested due to combination of more than one communicating person at a time. Every frequency should only be supported for one pilot or controller. Both of them should be good enough in using the frequency wisely.
  1. Work
Controlling air traffic is a tedious work since there will be a lot of aircrafts to be controlled and mishandling may lead to lethal consequences. Most of the aircrafts should be controlled simultaneously. Altitude must be monitored and communicated properly so that it will not collide. The route should also be monitored since the there will be multiple flights in the same route.
