A Guide to Certified in Logistics, Transportation and Distribution*

Certified in Logistics, Transportation and Distribution, shortly known as CLTD was launched in the year 2016 and became the world’s renowned downstream supply chain certification sought-after in logistics, aviation, shipping, railways, roadways and distribution companies. The aspirants of CLTD certification ranges from a fresh graduate to someone who has 30+ years experience in the downstream supply chain. One must be graduate or at least possesses 3 years of work experience to be eligible for this certification. To attain CLTD one must pass through the below five steps.

1. APICS International Plus Membership

2. Get the CPIM Part-1 Learning System

3. Attend a 3-Day Classroom Training

4. Prepare for two months

5. Appear for the CPIM Part-1 Examination

Get the CLTD Learning System

CLTD Learning System is a must to prepare for this examination. CLTD Learning System contains two parts. One is the set of textbooks and the other is the web tool. The aspirants are expected to master the Learning System at least thrice to attain a mastery level understanding to attain success in the CLTD examination. The CLTD Learning System contains the following chapters:

 

Attend a 5-Day Classroom Training

The CLTD Classroom Training happens over a two-month period delivered by an APICS Recognised Instructor of APICS, USA. In the first month, the participants will undergo a three-day training and in the following month the participants will attend a two-day training, totalling five days. The classroom discussion is a case-study based one with the aid of APICS Instructor Kits. Participants are expected to attend the classroom along with their Learning System so that they can map the classroom understanding with that of the textbook.

Prepare for six months

Once the classroom sessions are over, the participant need to prepare for at least six months to complete the three revisions stated earlier. At the end of the preparation, schedule a meeting with the faculty either in-person or online to have a review of your readiness for the examination. If both you and the faculty are satisfied with your preparation, then schedule for the CLTD examination.

Appear for the CLTD Examination

The CLTD examination is a single-part examination. It is an online, closed book and multiple choice examination which you will be taking at Pearson Vue Testing Centres in your locality. Pearson Vue Testing Centres are across the globe and you can take the CLTD examination anywhere in the world. You need to report to the examination centre at least 60 minutes in advance to complete some of their administrative work and then you will attend the examination for 3.5 hours. You will be answering 150 questions and need to secure 300 and above to pass CLTD in a scoring range of 200 to 350. You will get the result of the examination at the end of the examination and can download the softcopy of your certification from your ASCM login after 24 hours.
