A Backlog is a list of tasks required to support a larger strategic plan. In the process of product development, it contains a prioritized list of items that the team has agreed to work on next. It includes user stories, changes to the existing functionality, and bug fixing. A key component of the Backlog Management is, the list of items are ordered by the priority that is the items at the top ranks are the highest. The Backlog Management is important for the product managers which will help them to focus on high level objectives to solve problems for achieving their target in the global market. With the Backlog Management, product manager know that their team always has a set of tasks, which will keep the product development moving forward. Product team that uses the agile development framework divide their work in to sprints so that they can review their tasks on a weekly basis.

Backlog Management is the process by which the product owner adds, adjust, and prioritizes backlog items within the backlog management software to make sure the most valuable product is shipped to the customers at the correct time and with good quality. An agile backlog management is a prioritized list of features, bugs, and technical works needed to meet the desired functionality of the product. The backlog management is a single authoritative source for the product that the team works on. The sequence of the product backlog items on a backlog management changes as the team gains a better understanding of the outcome. This reordering of the existing backlog management, that is the addition and removal of the backlog items gives the backlog management its dynamic characteristic.
