Position Overview
The Executive Buyer work is to procure a wide variety of commodities, materials, supplies, equipment, and services for the organisation many of which are extremely technical and require the application of complex procurement standards and procedures, including negotiation. They prepare thorough bid specifications, ask for quotations for commodities and services, requests for proposals for commodities and services, and purchase orders, as requested by University departments; the Executive Buyer uses advanced critical thinking and writing skills in the development and assessment of the more complex requests for proposals for commodities and services. The Executive Buyer has the power to choose varied sources of commodities and services, examines bids, provides contracts and purchase orders, creates standards for new products or services, manages contact with vendors, and maintains comprehensive descriptions of available products and current prices. The Executive Buyer fastens the ordering and delivery process for commodities or services with the use of automated procurement systems, and makes sure that the invoice payment by monitoring the process from starting of a purchase order with the receipt of the goods or services and billing from the vendor or supplier.

Academic Qualification

  • A Bachelor's degree is required, with an emphasis in Business or Accounting.

Professional Experience

  • Minimum five years of experience is required in procurement.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Research, select and purchase quality products and materials.
  • Build relationships with suppliers and negotiate with them for the best pricing.
  • Process all types of requisitions from others and update management on status of orders.
  • Update inventory and make sure that stock levels are kept at optimal levels.
  • Arrange transport of goods and track all the orders to make sure of timely delivery.
  • Deeply analyse the trend of the market and apply this knowledge to make insightful buying decisions.
  • Work with inventory team, management, and stockroom as per the requirement.
  • Perform the assessment of quality of stock received and escalate any discrepancies to suppliers and management.
  • Ability to travel.

  • In-depth understanding of MS Excel, MS Word and industry standard purchase order software platforms
  • Impeccable attention to detail
  • Capacity and willingness to work well with a team
  • Able to excel in a high-stress and fast-moving environment

The Salary depends on the experience. However, typically the average salary of an Executive Buyer is around ₹8 lakhs to 10 lakhs annually.
