The main campus is located in Providence, Rhode Island. The Rhode Island School of Design Museum contains the 20th-largest collection in the United States. The Providence Athenium is the fourth oldest library in the United States, in addition to the Providence Public Library and the nine branches of the Providence Community Library. Edgar Allan Poe frequented the library, and met and courted Sarah Helen Whitman at the library. H. P. Lovecraft was also a regular patron.
