Lamar University was founded in 1923 as South Park Junior College and  the name changed to Lamar College in 1932 after Mirabeau B. Lamar.  More than 15,000 students have been graduated from Lamar University which is among the fastest growing among Texas universities. Lamar University is nation-wide known for its excellence in curriculum for all degree program levels including Bachelor's, Master's and Doctoral degrees.
