The University of Missouri is a public research university in Columbia, Missouri. Columbia is a city in the U.S. state of Missouri. Cultural institutions include the State Historical Society of Missouri, the Museum of Art and Archaeology, and the annual True/False Film Festival and The Roots N Blues N BBQ Festival in Columbia. Surrounding the city, Rock Bridge Memorial State Park, Mark Twain National Forest, and Big Muddy National Fish and Wildlife Refuge form a greenbelt preserving sensitive and rare environments. The Columbia Agriculture Park is home to the Columbia Farmers Market.

CERTIFICATE IN GLOBAL SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGEMENT Program

 

Overview:

 

Supply chain management focuses on the network of companies engaged with co creating value in ways that meet the customer or final consumer demands. Every organization in the network is a supplier to the endpoints of demand satisfaction. In today’s business climate, supply chain management, as an interdisciplinary field, has gained broad acceptance by both academics and practitioners.

 

Supply chain management is considered a core discipline in business/industrial engineering education that draws heavily upon expertise in operations management, strategic management, marketing, logistics, transportation, information technology and supply management. 

 

CERTIFICATE REQUIREMENTS:

 

The Global Supply Chain Management certificate requires a minimum of 15 credits of coursework, consisting of nine credit hours of core courses and a minimum of six credit hours from the list of approved elective courses. A 3.0 GPA in the 15 completed hours is required to earn the certificate.

 

REQUIRED COURSEWORK 

Nine (9) credit hours

 

  • MANGMT 4010 (3 CH): Operations Management. Managerial analysis of operating problems, with emphasis on planning and control systems.

OR

  • IMSE 4350 (3CH):Production and Operations Analysis. Quantitative methods for forecasting, scheduling, and production control in manufacturing and service systems.
  • BUS AD 4500 (3CH) OR IMSE 4910 (3CH): Internship in Supply Chain Management. An industry-based learning experience that provides opportunities to apply supply chain management skills, concepts and theories in a practical context.
  • MANGMT 4070 (3 CH): Supply Chain Management. An examination of the concepts, processes and institutions that are fundamental to an understanding of supply chain management in a global environment.

ELECTIVE COURSEWORK

Six (6) credit hours from the following:

 

  • MANGMT 4090 (3CH): Purchasing and Supply Management
  • MANGMT 4080 (3CH): Managing Global Trade
  • MANGMT 4060 (3CH): Project Management Fundamentals
  • MRKTNG 4890 (3CH): Marketing Supply Chain Analytics
  • MANGMT 4210 (3CH): Management Science
  • IMSE 4330 (3CH): Material Flow and Logistics System Design
  • IMSE 4360 (3CH): Supply Chain Engineering
  • IMSE 4370 (3CH): Service System Engineering and Management
  • IMSE 4380 (3CH): Six Sigma Methodology
