Position Overview
Responsible for leading the Business Partner relationship with a medium to large size business. Acts as the bridge between the business and procurement. Taps into the global and local sourcing strategies and adapts for the business needs. Sustainable resolution to ensure supply or scope of work challenges from business, supplier or factory. Effectively engage in cross functional Innovation & Renovation project teams to clearly communicate sourcing constraints, supply risks & mitigation strategies as they relate to the project.

Academic Qualification

  • Bachelor's degree in related areas.

Professional Experience

  • 2 - 4 years of related experience.
  • Demonstrated experience working with professional service agreements and ongoing contracts.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Understand business requirements and challenges; including priorities, must win battles and key value drivers. 
  • Attend appropriate Business forums.
  • Confirm Business objectives, challenges, projects, requirements and expectations are shared with the Category Management Team to help craft strategic planning.
  • Understand how procurement activities impact the key metrics of the business or function in support of the Operational Master Plan.
  • Present material cost forecast reports (data, graphs, commentary) and category insights to Business partners as appropriate.
  • Own and measure cost improvement targets and projects. Report out to the Business partner as appropriate.
  • Monitor business goals delivered by the Category Teams and help periodically reassess the targets.
  • Ensure information flow between the Market and Category Teams to effectively deliver against business/function strategies.
  • Seek proactive feedback regarding sourcing activities and to enable focus on high value returns.
  • Head the implementation of sourcing strategies at business level, within the overall implementation plan of the sourcing strategy.
  • Build and execute business partner management communication plan.
  • Present the category strategy summaries to the Business partners to gain alignment and sign-off as applicable.
  • Ensure supplier selection is approved by Business partners and communicate award decisions to those affected.

  • Ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally.
  • Demonstrated ability to quickly build and maintain relationships and establish trust with leaders, campus partners, colleagues and external affiliates.
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully set priorities, handle heavy workload, and complete tasks with multiple deadlines effectively, efficiently and accurately in a fast-paced, frequently stressful environment and with frequent interruptions.
  • Working level of proficiency in the use of standard spreadsheet and word processing software.
  • Analytical skills necessary to evaluate the quality and cost effectiveness of purchasing options.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills using a high degree of tact, diplomacy and discretion to interact in a positive and polished manner with diverse constituents, including campus colleagues, administrators, community members, and accreditation agencies in order to provide exemplary customer service.

Salary ranges depending on the experience. Typically, the average salary for a Principal Procurement Specialist in India is around Rs.10 lakhs to Rs.15 lakhs annually.
