Machining tools are equipped to turn metal into products or into tools and parts that will fit machines. High Precision Cutting Tools are in wide usage in the Industrial World. High grade steel bars, tungsten carbides are first shaped to requirement. Metal-Metal contact leads to large amount of friction generation. Hence proper lubrication has to take place. Giant Band Saws are used to cut the bars to form end mill size pieces called blanks. Each blank undergoes turning process in a computer aided lathe machine. A central hole is drilled and the diameter is then trimmed. An automatic computer guided Milling Machine works on three blanks at a time. It carves Helix shaped rings called flutes which run throughout the length of the blank. Each blank is converted into a tool here. The shorter smooth portion is called the shank.  The longer flute portion is called the cutting end. Model to model, tool to tool, the Milling process varies. Then the tool undergoes Curing in a two step process. The tool is soaked in five consecutive hot salt baths. Then the second step called Induction happens. The tool is placed in hot coils. Internal Magnetic fields heats the metal, softening the shank. Then finishing process is done by grinding. A grinder wheel consists of grits made of diamond particles for strength. This gives strength to erode steel at a high degree of precision. A digital micrometer is used to verify the accuracy. Robotic arms place the cutting ends in automating grinding machines for their final finish.
