Types of Distribution:
  •  Standard release
  • Straight-to-video release
  • Pre-studio era
  • Simultaneous release
  • Shrinking of the theatrical window
  • Internet or OTT release
Industry Process:
The distributors are the persons who act as a middle man between the film producers and the exhibitors (the person who own theatres), and in some case, the film producers also distribute their own film in order to avoid the distributor expenses. During the process, the producers telecast the film to the distributors, and the price and the film copies are determined based on the quality of the movie, current trend in the market, demand, and the budget of the film. Then, the negotiations and agreement take place, and finally, the distributors sell the film to the theatre owners. Laterally, the film is sold to the other platforms like television, and OTT. Simultaneous release is a process, where the film is telecasted in both theatres and other medium at a same time, and now a days, the OTT platforms are the emerging sectors, which anticipated to drive the demand in the global market.
