An SOP (Standard Operating Procedure) Manual for other gasoline stations is instrumental in ensuring the smooth, safe, and efficient operation of fuel retail businesses. This manual serves as a comprehensive guide, detailing standardized procedures for various aspects of gasoline station management, including fuel dispensing, safety protocols, maintenance procedures, customer service, and regulatory compliance. It plays a pivotal role in minimizing operational risks, ensuring consistent service quality, and adhering to safety regulations. Additionally, an SOP Manual facilitates staff training, fostering a unified understanding of operational protocols among employees. This standardized approach enhances customer satisfaction, builds trust, and helps manage potential emergencies effectively. By providing a structured framework for daily operations, the manual contributes to the overall reliability, compliance, and success of gasoline stations in the competitive fuel retail industry.

Stations sign a contract with specific fuel brands. As a return for this, they get a aid for marketing and promotion. The contractual benefit for fuel is much like the inside of the store where companies have facilities attracting customers with facilities. For convenience stores, branded fuel stations provide a greater recognition. Air compressors, tire pressure checking gauges, toilets, motor oil, spare parts and food are often sold in stores linking up with the fuel station. In some places, repair and cleaning centers are also available.
Gasoline stations have LED sign boards displaying the rates. The Dispenser consists of sales screens, payment option and a interactive display. The sales building consists of the office and the store. As discussed earlier the building may contain facilities ranging from convenient stores to automobile repair centers. The service bay consists of forklifts, oil change equipment, pressure checkers and other cleaning facilities like wax wash, foam wash, dry wash, wheel wash, etc. Air , water units and vacuum cleaners may also be used. Pumps use automatic shut off mechanisms to prevent over filling of tanks. The connections to the fill pipe are located and sealed. Spill buckets are used to redirect any spill into the tank. A flapper valve is used to cut off the flow of fuel. Ball float valves prevent vapour from escaping. Float sensors alert the operator if they reach the limit. Corrosion resistant coatings are given where ever possible. Fiber glass may also be used. Cathodic corrosion prevention is also equipped. In the pipes leading from the tanks to the pump, line leak detectors use a spring loaded probe to test fuel pressure. Unexpected changes in pressure will trigger an alarm. The space between the double walls of the tank is filled with brine. The pressure level will decrease on increase depending upon the leak if any. This too is cautioned with an alarm. Submersible pumps are used in tanks to pump out the fuel to the pipes and dispensers.
