Position Overview
Category Manager should be detail-oriented and should be expert at negotiating category contracts. An outstanding Category Manager needed to multitask effectively as well as demonstrate special analytical insights to determine industry and consumer trends.
They must have commercial expertise and full comprehension of marketing and sales principles. They are generally responsible in the retail industry for sales optimization of a particular group of products.
Academic qualification
- Any Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Marketing, Business Administration, or a related field
- MBA preferred in Business Administration, Supply Chain/Operations, Engineering, Statistics, Marketing or Finance.
Professional experience
- 7+ years supply chain, inventory management and retail and/or project management experience
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects - prioritization, planning and task delegation
- Supply chain, finance, vendor and/or project management experience
- Ability to think and react in a high-energy, fast-paced environment
- Strong proficiency in analysis tools including Microsoft Excel, SQL, and statistics software
- Experience in building and developing a high-performance cross-functional project team
- Proven ability to manage large and complicated projects with experience leading cross-functional projects and teams
Professional Certification
- Certified Inventory Optimisation Professional (CIOP)
- Advanced Diploma in Procurement and Supply (Level-5)
- Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP)
Roles and Responsibilities
- Work closely with internal technical teams to drive multi-system process changes
- Drive scalable solutions for specific opportunities and issues
- Experience with consumer packaged goods or consumer brands
- Experience with sustainability initiatives, particularly related to grocery
- Actively work with customers to understand their category objectives, decision-making processes and company’s role in their business/category
- The ability to interpret and analyse data, then use this insight to develop strategies and tactics which will influence consumers is a skill a good category manager will possess.

The Salary depends on the experience. However, typically the average salary of a Category Manager is around Rs.5 lacs to Rs.7 lacs.
