Depending upon the institution the furniture manufacturing is done, the raw materials or the manufacturing technique will vary. When dealing with furniture requirements for institutes like schools, etc the shape or structure may vary. Sharp ends, bends and hard metals may be avoided. Hospitals and clinics might require furniture that can easily be moved, relocated which are also comfortable to use. Hence it is not possible to generalize the manufacturing process without specializing for the institutional needs. In the following paragraph we will see the common methods used by the industry.

Once the material is received ,it is measured, documented, listed and checked for certain quality requirements like moisture content, etc. Then the cutting and moulding process is done. Depending on the shape and design, the fabrication is done. The components and sharp ends are rounded up. The surfaces are then smoothed. Then the stacked parts and components are assembled via joints like dowel pins and then delivered.

Skilled workers and technicians initially design, precisely measure and frame the required strong bases, structures or tubes. Once the structural frame , design, base is made, fixed or welded. It is cleaned up, sanded and painted. In some cases, the help of weavers might be required as well. Leather guns, staple guns, brass decorative and may also be needed. For foam, leather and material requirements, CNC machines, high load pressing equipments may also be required. Conveyors, automated precision cutters, belts, tightening equipments like nuts,screws and bolts are also used. In case of usage of wood based materials like plywood sheets, they are pressed and heat treated to form curved shapes. Custom fabrics, heavy gauge wiring, nickel and brass plates, lathes, turning machines, drilling machines, hammers, chisels, etc are widely used.
